This course reviews the primary functions of county government and the duties and responsibilities of elected and nonelected officials in carrying out those functions. You will learn the roles of all the county departments and how those departments interact with each other as a team in providing services to the public.

The County Training Program is announcing our first, stand-alone, online class. The 3 credit hour class is "Understanding the Whole of County Government." It is required for the Basic Certificate of all county government employees except the elected official and first deputy. It provides discretionary credit hours for elected officials and first deputies. To access the class go to https://learn.extension.okstate.edu/ . Click on "Understanding the Whole of County Government." Next click on Enroll. A full name and unique email address must be provided by each individual taking the class. Also, be sure to enter the promo code WYCRXZ . You will be billed/invoiced for the $40 class fee at a later date. The class seems to work best with the Google Chrome browser but will likely work with Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge. Be sure you are using an updated browser. " The courses are interactive. You will need to use your mouse and keyboard to answer questions, continue, etc. " The courses take approximately 3 hours to complete, but you have 60 days to work on them. " You can use a phone, but a computer makes it easier to see and access everything. " If you do use a phone, the Canvas Student app is recommended. " The "How to Succeed" activity is recommended to those new to e-learning, It is located in the initial "Start Here" module. The class contains seven modules. There are several interactive activities throughout the class and a quiz at the end of each module. Don't worry about the quizzes. You can take them as many times as needed in ordered to get the 80% score necessary to continue to the next module. You can work at our own pace, any time of day, logging in and out as needed. (be sure to save your login information) You have up to 60 days to complete the seven modules. To complete all seven modules will take a total of about 3 hours.
