The class begins with a definition of accounting and moves forward through financial statements and illustrations for county government. Participants in this course gain a greater understanding of how to use accounting information to assist with planning and budgeting. This course gives a basic understanding of the accounting responsibility of all elected official and how monies flow from the deposit to expenditure. This course will provide a detailed review of the account structures for county government and identify key standard operating procedures for properly receipting grant funds. The course will also describe the process of the required Audit performed by the State Auditor and Inspector, including a review of internal controls.
