This 3 -hr course is designed as an introduction to the Oklahoma Purchasing Act. The course is a brief review of the roles and responsibility of all elected officials and purchase officers. The procedures as required in Title 19, County Purchasing Act and Title 61, Competitive bidding will be highlighted. Other topic will be inventory and disposal.

This is a required class of all elected officials and 1st deputies (except county clerks and their first deputies who are required to take twelve hours of purchasing procedures). (Purchasing Agents also need the two, six hour courses rather than this class but everyone is welcome to take it.) To access the class go to https://learn.extension.okstate.edu/ . Click on "Introduction to County Purchasing Procedures" Next click on Enroll. A full name and unique email address must be provided by each individual taking the class. Also, be sure to enter the promo code VRYN2U. You will be billed/invoiced for the $40 class fee at a later date. The class seems to work best with the Google Chrome browser but will likely work with Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge. Be sure you are using an updated browser. The class contains seven modules. There are several interactive activities throughout the class and a quiz at the end of each module. Don't worry about the quizzes. You can take them as many times as needed in ordered to get the 80% score necessary to continue to the next module. You can work at our own pace, any time of day, logging in and out as needed. (be sure to save your login information) You have up to 60 days to complete the seven modules. To complete all seven modules will take a total of about 3 hours. " The courses are interactive. You will need to use your mouse and keyboard to answer questions, continue, etc. " The courses take approximately 3 hours to complete, but you have 60 days to work on them. " You can use a phone, but a computer makes it easier to see and access everything. " If you do use a phone, the Canvas Student app is recommended. " The "How to Succeed" activity is recommended to those new to e-learning, It is located in the initial "Start Here" module.
